The Animated Series' Showrunner Is Aware of Your Second Season Predictions — And She Has Good News

The much-anticipated second season of the musical adult cartoon Hazbin Hotel debuts on the streaming platform soon, and fan speculation has been intense.

The first season presents a diverse group of personalities residing in Hell and Heaven, sets them at odds with musical numbers detailing their conflicts, and builds heated competitions and emotional bonds that drive fan obsession.

The fandom's stated hopes for season 2 vary widely, but certain themes emerge over and over: Will a fan-favorite character break free from Valentino? Might we learn more about the binding agreement constraining the enigmatic Alastor? Might certain characters' relationships evolve?

"Naturally, I don't produce the show with fan service specifically in mind," the showrunner stated recently. "However I believe that me being a devotee of the series means there's a lot of it just inherently. I also want to see these things, and I want some of these things to occur, and obviously some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"

She reveals her long-term vision is for a five-season run of Hazbin Hotel. Seasons 3 and 4 have already been green-lit by Prime Video and A24, which finance the series.

That could imply viewers have to wait years for some of the biggest payoffs — but they could be shocked at how quickly the new season moves, and how much of what they're anticipating happens now.

"I believe people are going to get a lot out of it," she adds. "We get some firsts. I think we get some incredible disclosures, some fascinating origin tales, and even just simple things, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] Audiences will experience much more singing from the previously silent cast members."

The creator is well-informed of the guesses and hopes about season 2 — especially in the form of audience prediction charts.

"I've come across a few fans create a bingo card about season 2," she mentions. "Obviously I won't share it, but I've actually done a few items, and almost all of them have almost a bingo. I was like, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that makes me think we accomplish much [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I was like, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that brings me joy."

Hazbin Hotel season 2 launches on the streaming service on October 29.
