Uche Sparks Comfortable Palace Win at Irish Side Shelbourne.

Even though entering their maiden continental adventure, Crystal Palace are adapting very quickly. Missing star figures like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and defender Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles departed Dublin with a commanding win that virtually guarantees them a place in the Conference League playoffs.

Another victory in their next fixture against Finland's KuPS ought to be enough to seal direct passage to the last 16, especially following a previous setback against Strasbourg.

Squad Members Seize the Moment

This match provided a platform for several Palace's lesser-used talent to shine. Christantus Uche, in only his second start after arriving on loan from Getafe, notched the account with a well-taken finish. Forward Eddie Nketiah added a second, scoring for the second consecutive succession.

The Shelbourne side that had finished their domestic season proved outmatched against a largely second-string Palace outfit. The Londoners were already depleted by the reports that Mateta and Muñoz are out with leg injuries.

Dominance Asserted from the Start

In spite of heavy rain in Dublin, Palace quickly took control. A flowing move in the 11th minute, sparked by Daichi Kamada's clever pass, let Nketiah to set up Uche for a simple tap-in.

Midfielder Adam Wharton came close minutes later, fizzing a powerful effort over the bar. Nketiah subsequently appealed for a penalty after bursting into the area, but the official waved away the protests.

Ex-Arsenal man did not have wait long to find his goal, prodding home from a yard out after Uche's effort had hit the post.

Shelbourne were hanging on for dear life. Full-back Kameron Ledwidge was fortunate to escape a booking for a couple of robust tackles on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the crossbar with a header from a corner.

Pino Seals the Game

The match was as good as over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino weaved past a series of weak challenges before calmly dispatching a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to make it 3-0.

After the break, manager Oliver Glasner took the chance to rest several players like Kamada and Wharton. Substitute Romain Esse almost scoring his first touch, only to see his shot blocked.

Esse was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one shot crash off both posts before being clasped on the line. Uche then blazed a glaring chance, showing there is still room for development in his game.

The only concern for Palace was a late injury to Justin Devenny, who was forced off. This allowed 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to earn his senior debut, capping an otherwise positive night for the visiting side.
